There are several things to do in London during the May Half-Term holiday, and we have taken time to put together some of the best places and events to visit.
Plan a day out at Peckham Levels
The once gloomy multi-leveled car park did undergo what you may consider a complete makeover. It has become a total contrast from what it used to be – now, it has become a hub for music, food, and culture. It looks a lot nicer with the addition of the food market and art studio, and it has a colourful flight of stairs that have become a popular backdrop for millennials who can’t stop sharing photos of it on their Instagram feed.
To put the icing on the cake, there is a crazy golf course in the basement, which is designed by the experts of Plonk Golf. There is so much to do that you might want to set a whole day aside for checking out the Peckham Levels.
London Wine Week
If you are a wine connoisseur, the London wine week offers one of the most flamboyant events of the season. It is a week-long celebration of wine that takes place across the city. So, you are likely to find a couple of spots to try out different wines from all over the world close to where you are staying. If you are visiting as a traveler, you will be able to join the celebration from anywhere in the city. Since there are many events happening, 125 of the best wine bars in London will be offering tater flights at just £5 – including three different wines.
Enjoy a picnic by the Thames
The founder of The BBQ Club, Jimmy Garcia, is planning to set up a giant deck along the South Bank. The picnic areas will be surrounded by white picket fences, it will also have a lawn, deckchairs, parasols, and beanbags. It is going to be amazing in the month of May by the Thames. There are also going to be fun summer games like giant Jenga, croquet, and mini golf, so this actually makes it a great opportunity for a day out with friends and family.
Check out the outdoor theatre
The city is buzzing with activities and events, everyone is out on the streets hopping from one bar to the other. The atmosphere feels just about right, but it won’t be complete without checking out the outdoor theatre, and there are probably a few of those set up across the city. From May 16, the Regents Park Outdoor Theatre will be playing Thorton Wilder’s Our Town, while The Comedy of Errors, The Merry Wives of Windsor will be hosted at Shakespeare’s Globe throughout the month of May.
All Points East Festival
This festival can be said to have the greatest lineup for the year, scoring big performances from great bands including The Strokes, Bon Iver, The Chemical Brothers, Mumford and Sons, Christine and the Queen’s, and Bring Me The Horizon, which will all take the main stage. This is the festival that you do not want to miss.
