Fairytale Trail
The London Literature Festival coincides with the holiday, and as part of the festival, Southbank Centre came up with the fun idea of a free fairytale trail where families can follow at their pace. The trail features games, puzzles, and creative activities. It is rumoured that there will be a prize for anyone who completes the trail. The event will run from 21-27 October at the Southbank Centre. Families will be provided with a playful trail kit.
Ice Skating at The Natural History Museum
The Natural History Museum skating rink will be reopened on 19 October. The skating rink is set against the backdrop of the Waterhouse building and is one the most magical places to be in London in winter. The rink offers a great opportunity for kids and adults to have memorable moments together that will last a lifetime. The rink is surrounded by fairy lights and frost-covered trees, setting the tone for the festive season.
Dine at family-friendly pubs

The Bolingbroke, Battersea
The Eagle, Shepherd’s Bush
Horniman Museum
The historic Horniman Museum is nestled right inside 16 acres of gardens and has an aquarium, rotating exhibits, an animal walk, extensive anthropological gardens, and a farmers’ market. This is a perfect place to explore with your kids during the holiday. If you are looking for more fun, you can stop by the plonk golf venue for a fantastic time taking on the 9-hole mini crazy golf course.
Crazy golfing in ZSL London Zoo
Another fantastic fun thing to do in October Half-Term is to go crazy golfing with your kids. The design of this mini golf course is inspired by ZSL’s conservation projects from River Thames to Central and South America, through the Asian Jungle and the African Savannah. This amazing golf course is a recent addition to Plonk Golf’s crazy golf venues located all over London. It features Plonk’s signature radical ramps, loops, huge thrill hills, and bonkers balancing beams. The best part is that your kids can learn about ZSL conservation projects on the information boards.
